The event, which honors the outstanding Almerian athlete Jairo Ruiz, a Paralympic medalist in Rio de Janeiro 2016, is part of the Andalusian Circuit and counts towards the national ranking. The competition kicked off at 10:00 AM from La Térmica Beach with a 750-meter swim, followed by a 20-kilometer urban cycling circuit that included Avenida del Mediterráneo, and concluded with a 5-kilometer run.
In the men's category, Bartomeu Crespí, from CT Murcia Ailimpo, claimed victory with a time of 57 minutes and 17 seconds, narrowly beating Alfonso Bastos (CT Albacete Res), who finished just one second later. Third place went to Marco Montes (Montilla-Córdoba Triatlón) with 58 minutes and 18 seconds. The competition was notable for the camaraderie among all participants.
In the women's category, Inés Fernández (CT Murcia Ailimpo) was the winner with a time of 1 hour, 6 minutes, and 36 seconds. She was followed on the podium by Alicia Soriano and Marta Román, both from Montilla-Córdoba Triatlón, with times of 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 7 seconds, and 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 21 seconds, respectively.
The event also recognized the best in the paralympic category, where Damián Sánchez, from CT Tragamillas Viator-Mercaluz, crossed the finish line in 1 hour, 6 minutes, and 27 seconds, and Tristán Vergara, from CP Mijas, did so in 1 hour, 13 minutes, and 55 seconds. The event was officially started by the councilor for Active City, Urban Mobility, and Sports.
