The project, long-awaited by residents of Zurgena, is on the verge of materializing. The future roundabout in the hamlet of El Palacés will put an end to decades of insecurity at the junction connecting the center of Zurgena with El Palacés and the municipality of Lubrín.
Concerns about the danger of this spot have been constant, even leading to signature collections by residents. Now, the discontent has turned into optimism regarding the imminent execution of the work.
“"What seemed like a dream for many years is about to become a reality."
The origin of the road problem dates back to the industrial history of the area, when the road already handled special traffic due to marble transportation. In recent years, the resurgence of business appeal has increased heavy traffic, raising the risk of accidents.
The local government team has worked on drafting a technical project to intervene at the intersection between the regional and provincial roads, at the access to Lubrín and El Palacés. This action will ensure that one of the most dangerous points on the roads of Zurgena and the entire Almanzora region finds a definitive solution.
The investment, exceeding 200,000 euros, will transform mobility in the area, guaranteeing the safety of residents, transporters, and other road users. The tender for the works is expected in the coming days or weeks, with the goal of the El Palacés roundabout being a reality before the end of 2026.
