The events occurred on June 21st, around 5:30 PM, when the individual, of Sub-Saharan origin and awaiting identity confirmation, forcibly entered the victim's motorhome. Wielding a knife and a stick, he intimidated the 44-year-old woman.
Although penetration was not achieved, the attacker inflicted severe injuries to the victim's face and body. The brutal beating was interrupted by a citizen who, alerted by the screams, honked their car horn, managing to scare off the aggressor.
The witness alerted the National Police, who arrived at the scene within minutes. The victim was taken to the Almería Children's Hospital, and the sexual assault protocol was activated.
While evidence was being collected at the scene, officers located the suspect hiding among the vegetation. Upon discovery, the young man fled towards the sea, entering the water in adverse weather conditions with strong winds and waves.
Five officers entered the sea to rescue the individual, who had ventured about a hundred meters from the shore. After a complex operation, they managed to bring him safely to the sand, where he received medical attention after ingesting water.
The detainee, who was taken to a medical center, faces charges for sexual assault and injuries. The citizen's intervention and the rapid police action were crucial in stopping the assault and saving the alleged perpetrator's life.
