This initiative, aimed at meeting the high demand for one of the most emblematic items of the patron saint festivities, featured four distribution points: Plaza de la Constitución, the Women's Center in Cortijo Grande, the former Telvent building in El Toyo, and, as a new addition this year, the La Cañada Market. The first attendees began gathering at these locations from the early morning hours.
This year's fans showcase a design inspired by the artwork 'Dulces recuerdos' (Sweet Memories), by the graphic designer, painter, and photographer from Murcia, Rubén Lucas García. This piece won the Fair Poster Contest, securing 38.2% of the popular vote among the three finalist proposals, out of a total of 44 submissions.
The Councilor for Presidency, Innovation, and European Funds, Amalia Martín, oversaw the distribution and was joined by representatives from the beneficiary associations: the Association of Children with Disabilities of Almería (ANDA), Proyecto Hombre, Comedor La Milagrosa, and Casa Nazaret.
Following tradition, and to maximize the solidarity reach, a limit of two fans per person was set, with a suggested donation of two euros per fan. Councilor Amalia Martín highlighted the smooth and orderly distribution, despite the expected queues, and emphasized the expansion in both the number of fans and the distribution points compared to the previous year.
Amalia Martín expressed her gratitude for the public's response to each solidarity initiative and acknowledged their patience and good conduct, contributing to a festive atmosphere. She was accompanied by Ana Mazón (Director of Proyecto Hombre Almería), Esperanza Pérez (President of ANDA), Sor Ángela Pérez (from the La Milagrosa soup kitchen), and Karina Cortés (representative of Casa Nazaret). All expressed their thanks for being part of this fundraising effort, underscoring the opportunity it provides to raise awareness for their projects among thousands of attendees.
The four organizations perform essential work in providing specialized care to those in need within the city of Almería.
