The PSOE of Almería has presented its candidacy for the upcoming Andalusian elections, appealing to citizens who feel let down by the administration of President Moreno Bonilla, with the aim of driving change in the autonomous community.

The general secretary of the PSOE of Almería, José María Martín, highlighted that the socialist list for the Andalusian elections on May 17 combines “enthusiasm and experience,” values that, in his opinion, contrast with the lack of a clear project from the Popular Party, which he accuses of having “systematically punished Almería.” These statements were made after the candidacy was approved by the PSOE-A Steering Committee.
Martín emphasized that his party's main objective is to restore public services in Andalusia, which, according to him, have been “deteriorated to the bone” under the Moreno Bonilla administration. He specifically referred to healthcare, dependency care, and education, arguing that the socialist project aims for the region to once again be a benchmark in healthcare, care, and equal opportunities.
The socialist leader also focused on the importance of education as a driver of social mobility for young people, especially in Vocational Training. He warned about the exclusion of “hundreds of students” from the public system in the province, while private offerings grow with the approval of the current Andalusian government.

"The people of Almería are suffering a real ordeal with unbearable waiting lists and a huge lack of healthcare professionals in hospitals and primary care."

Regarding healthcare, Martín criticized the solutions proposed by the Andalusian Government, such as referrals to private healthcare, mentioning the case of the Hospital de Huércal-Overa and transfers to a clinic in Lorca. He stated that the best option to recover public healthcare is for Moreno Bonilla not to continue as president of the Junta.
The PSOE of Almería has announced its participation in the mobilization called by Marea Blanca this Sunday, to “defend public healthcare from all the outrages it is suffering under the Andalusian Government of the Popular Party.” Furthermore, it has presented “bold proposals” for access to housing, including the construction of 100,000 public homes in Andalusia, of which 10,000 would be allocated to Almería, and aid to defer the payment of 20% of the down payment.
Finally, Martín concluded that the elections on May 17 will be crucial for the future of Andalusia, offering voters the opportunity to choose between “the cuts of the PP of Moreno Bonilla or the strengthening of public services by María Jesús Montero.”
