Wednesday afternoon, July 22nd, was marked by road safety incidents in the province of Almería, with three traffic accidents recorded within a few hours. The most severe occurred at 5:30 PM on the Nacional-349, the road linking the Almería Scientific-Technological Park (PITA) with the El Alquián neighborhood.
At one of the road's roundabouts, a head-on collision took place between a Kia car and a Mercedes van. The impact resulted in the death of the car's driver, while two occupants of the van sustained serious injuries.
Emergency services, including Almería Firefighters, 061 medical personnel with a Mobile ICU, and Civil Guard Traffic agents, responded to the scene. The latter confirmed the death of the Kia car driver.
Eyewitnesses indicated that the head-on collision occurred after one of the vehicles veered into the oncoming lane.
This incident adds to two other accidents that occurred on the same afternoon in the province. Just ten minutes after the collision on the N-349, another incident involving three vehicles took place on the A-7 near Retamar. Earlier, around 2:30 PM, a tanker truck carrying potash crashed into the guardrail of the Autovía del Mediterráneo as it passed through Adra.
