The Infoca Plan declared the fire in the province of Almería contained before noon on Sunday. This decision was made after verifying that the fire's perimeter remains consolidated and that there are no longer any fronts with free propagation capacity.
This declaration marks a turning point in an emergency that has resulted in the most significant tragedy recorded by a wildfire in Andalusia, with twelve fatalities and eight injuries.
The flames have ravaged approximately 7,000 hectares and affected a perimeter of 42 kilometers. The thousand residents who had been evacuated from their homes can now return.
