The Almería club has confirmed the departure of forward Patrick Soko, who joins CD Leganés on loan until June 2027, with an included purchase option. The Cameroonian attacker, who arrived last summer, did not manage to achieve the expected success during his time with the red-and-white team.
During the past season, Soko played 831 minutes and scored a single goal in the Copa del Rey against Eldense. The player, who had been in Madrid for several days, was awaiting final approval to join Leganés' preseason under Rubén Albés. He only started in 8 matches.
Soko was one of the notable signings of the previous summer, following his spell at Huesca where he scored 13 goals. He arrived at Almería for free with a contract until 2028. However, after starting as a center forward, he was moved to the wing by coach Rubi, which hindered his consistency and kept him frequently on the bench. At 28 years old, he will attempt to regain his best form at Butarque.
His last appearance for the Almería shirt was on April 12th, in a defeat against Santander. From then on, despite being called up, he did not get minutes in the final league matches or the Play Off. The arrival of García Pimienta to the Almería bench also did not include the player in his plans.
UD Almería and CD Leganés have confirmed the agreement for the player's loan. The Madrid-based club will have the option to exercise a purchase option on the player.
