Born in Almería in 1966, the photographer grew up near the Plaza de Toros, forging his bond with bullfighting. After working in upholstery and for the Almería City Council's Parks and Gardens department, his passion for bulls led him to seek a new vocation.
His entry into the bullfighting world began as a sword handler, working with various bullfighting figures. However, his true aspiration was to document the fight from the silence of the lens, a goal he achieved thanks to an alleyway pass at the Almería Bullring.
With nearly two decades of experience, the photographer has traveled the main bullrings and fairs in Andalucía, serving as a photographic correspondent for the digital newspaper “Burladero TV” in Eastern Andalucía. His work focuses on capturing the truth of the moment, the unrepeatable encounter between the bull and the bullfighter, seeking authenticity beyond mere sensationalism.
“"I do not seek immediate sensationalism, but the truth of the moment. That is, what happens in the unrepeatable encounter between the bull and the bullfighter."
His career has been recognized with numerous awards, including three consecutive first prizes in the National Bullfighting Photography Contest between 2015 and 2017. His works have been exhibited in relevant cultural spaces such as the Patio de Luces of the Diputación de Almería and the Sala Bienvenida of the Las Ventas bullring in Madrid, a milestone he considers the realization of a dream.
The artist emphasizes the importance of his family as a fundamental pillar in his career and attributes the magic of his photographs to the ability to capture the deep truth of bullfighting, that ephemeral instant where man faces the animal and destiny.
