The city of Almería is set to host a new edition of the Alamar festival, an event that will offer three nights of free international music from June 11 to 13 in the Plaza de la Constitución, establishing itself as a prominent cultural highlight.

The Alamar festival, celebrating over two decades of history, returns to delight the public with various world music genres. The 2026 edition will take place on June 11, 12, and 13, with free admission concerts until full capacity is reached. All performances will begin at 9:30 PM in the Plaza de la Constitución, as part of the quarterly program organized by the Department of Culture, Education, and Traditions of the Almería City Council.
The event's presentation was led by the delegated councilor, accompanied by a member of Radio Babel Marseille, the band tasked with opening the festival. The lineup includes this Franco-Spanish group on Thursday, June 11, followed by Suhail Fusión from Morocco on Friday, June 12, and concluding with the Ambi Subramaniam Trio from India on Saturday, June 13.

"Alamar has become an indispensable event for Almerians and a significant attraction for tourists visiting during those days. It is an initiative that reinforces the city's open and inclusive character and exemplifies tolerance towards other cultures."

The councilor also highlighted that, in addition to its well-known attractions such as gastronomy, heritage, museums, beaches, and environment, Almería offers a rich cultural program. During the summer season, music becomes its main draw, positioning the city as one of the most important musical tourist destinations, with festivals and proposals for all tastes.
A representative from Radio Babel Marseille expressed excitement about opening this year's edition of the festival. The band, composed of four voices and a beatbox from diverse backgrounds, blends traditional singing with urban rhythms. Their latest album is inspired by poetry and maritime songs, and they will offer a sample of their music on June 11.
Radio Babel Marseille, founded in 2013, presents Mediterranean polyphonies, African rhythms, and contemporary groove, with a repertoire in French, Spanish, Arabic, Bambara, or Creole. Meanwhile, Suhail Fusión explores the Arab-Andalusian tradition, blending rich Arabic melodies with the expressiveness of flamenco. Finally, the Ambi Subramaniam Trio will feature violinist Ambi Subramaniam, internationally recognized in Indian classical violin, performing alongside two traditional Indian percussionists.
