The Baeza City Council has announced the decision of the XXX International Poetry Prize "Antonio Machado in Baeza". The mayor, Pedro Javier Cabrera, accompanied by the Councillor for Culture, Ignacio Montoro, and members of the jury, communicated the outcome.
Salvador García, secretary of the jury, detailed that six hundred and thirty works were admitted for meeting the contest's requirements. The submissions came from five continents, with a significant 45 percent originating from South American authors.
Following successive pre-selections, the jury debated seven final poetry collections. Ultimately, by unanimous decision and after extensive discussion, the prize was awarded. It includes a six thousand euro endowment, sponsored by the Provincial Council of Jaén, publication by Hiperión publishing house, and a bronze trophy donated by the Gaspar Becerra School of Art in Baeza.

The opening of the envelope revealed the author to be Manuel del Rosario Urbín with his work "Estrecho". The jury praised its structure and its reflective perspective on everyday life.
The high quality of the submitted works and the increasing number of entries from Ibero-America and other global regions underscore the prestige of this competition.
The award ceremony will take place next November, coinciding with the anniversary of Antonio Machado's arrival in Baeza.
