The agreement between the Almería entity, the player, and the Arab club marks the end of Dion Lopy's tenure with the red-and-white team after three seasons and 105 matches played. The player has already left the team's training camp in Marbella and is heading to his new destination.
The operation, which could reach 19 million euros if all agreed-upon variables are met, includes a clause that will allocate 2.5 million euros to Stade de Reims, the French club from which Lopy originally joined Almería. The French team had reserved a 20% of the profit in their day.
With an initial amount of thirteen million euros, Dion Lopy becomes the most expensive sale in Almería's history for a central midfielder, surpassing the eight million euros received for Felipe Melo during his time.
The Senegalese midfielder, considered one of the players with the most significant weight and charisma in the squad, arrived at Almería in the 2023/24 season. Over his three campaigns, he has participated in 105 matches, including 30 in Primera División, 6 in the Copa del Rey, 63 in LaLiga Hypermotion, and 6 in the promotion playoffs.
Recently, Lopy had extended his contract with Almería until 2030. UD Almería has expressed its gratitude for his professionalism and commitment, wishing him success in his new chapter with Al-Ittihad.
