The educational center IES Alhamilla, located in the capital of Almería, has been selected to be part of 'Avanza +21'. This pioneering initiative, set to run during the 2026/2027 academic year, is primarily aimed at facilitating the labor insertion of young individuals with special educational needs who have reached the maximum age for remaining in the ordinary education system.
Within this program, IES Alhamilla will offer specialized training in the commercial services area. Participants will have the opportunity to acquire validated professional competencies and obtain a recognized accreditation within the Vocational Training system, marking a significant step towards their qualification and access to the job market.
The initiative, published in the Official Bulletin of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA), targets students who have completed the Program for Transition to Adult and Working Life (PTVAL) or those who have turned 21 in specific special education classrooms. 'Avanza +21' aims to create new qualification pathways, fostering their transition to adult life and integration into the workforce by incorporating learning outcomes linked to Grade B Vocational Training courses.
The Ministry has emphasized the program's flexibility, designed for participants to earn professional accreditation while developing necessary skills. The maximum duration of participation will be two academic years, with students unable to continue after turning 23. The application period for this initiative will be open from June 18 to June 30, 2026. In addition to Almería, seven other Andalusian centers, one per province, will participate with diverse specializations such as administrative services, IT, agro-gardening, or building cleaning.
