Data on protection for victims of gender violence in the province of Almería shows a downward trend in March. The number of calls handled by the 016 helpline decreased by 11.4% compared to the same month last year, reaching 93 calls. This decline makes Almería the only province in Andalucía where these calls have reduced, while the autonomous community as a whole saw a 20.9% increase.
The report, prepared by the Coordination Unit against Gender Violence for Women of the Government Delegation in Andalucía, highlights that the 016 service offers information, legal advice, and specialized psychological support 24 hours a day, also available via WhatsApp and email, with services in 52 languages and adaptations for individuals with disabilities.
Furthermore, the number of female victims of mistreatment protected by the electronic monitoring system (bracelets) has also seen a decrease in Almería. The figure dropped from 345 users in March 2025 to 333 in the same month of 2026, representing a 3.5% decline, in line with the Andalusian average. Despite this decrease, Almería remains the second province in Andalucía with the highest rate per million women over 15 years old using electronic bracelets.
Additionally, a slight reduction has been observed in the number of users of the Atenpro telephone service for victims of gender violence, with 251 active users in March 2026 compared to 257 the previous year.
The report also details the adherence of municipalities to the VioGén system. As of May 12, 32 out of the 103 municipalities in the province of Almería have signed agreements with the Government Sub-delegation. Recently, Berja and Vera renewed their agreements with the Ministry of the Interior.
