The Almería City Council has presented a special cleaning operation for the 2026 Feria de Almería, featuring nearly 80 operators and around 300 extraordinary waste collection points.

The Almería City Council has announced a significant reinforcement of the cleaning and waste collection operation for the 2026 Feria de Almería. The objective is to ensure the care and maintenance of public spaces during the festivities, as reported by the Councilor for Environmental and Energy Sustainability, Antonio Urdiales.
The cleaning operation will mobilize 45 operators across morning, afternoon, and night shifts, supported by 22 specialized vehicles, including hot water cleaning units, street sweeping trucks, and collection vehicles. Concurrently, 33 operators will manage waste collection and transport with 12 support vehicles, covering both the Ferial Recinto (Fairgrounds) and surrounding neighborhoods, with a particular focus on La Goleta and the Centro area.
One of the main novelties is the installation of 60 recycling stations, comprising yellow containers for packaging and grey containers for general waste, strategically distributed. Additionally, 100 hoop-type bins attached to lampposts and another 30 special event bins will be placed on the Paseo de Almería, bringing the total to nearly 300 extraordinary deposit points, a notable increase from the 2025 Feria.
A dedicated team has been established to monitor these new bins and deposit points, aiming to prevent overflows and ensure their proper functioning. This team will complement the regular cleaning tasks, which include nightly sweeping of the Ferial Recinto. The service will also incorporate two special soil treatment vehicles and self-propelled electric carts.
The awareness campaign under the slogan ‘Vive, Disfruta, Cuida Almería’ (Live, Enjoy, Care for Almería) will accompany the reinforced resources. This initiative seeks to integrate public space care into the Feria experience through communication, signage, and citizen engagement. The campaign's identity will be featured on billboards, digital screens, bins, and t-shirts.
From Saturday, August 22nd to Saturday, August 29th, an information booth will be set up at various city points to guide on the correct use of deposit points and gather citizen feedback. Councilor Antonio Urdiales has emphasized the need for public collaboration to keep the Feria clean and responsible.
As part of the campaign, a graffiti contest will be held on Friday, August 28th, at the intersection of Castelar and San Francisco de Asís streets. Artist Nauni will also conduct a graffiti exhibition at the same location from Monday, August 24th to Friday, August 28th, leaving a permanent artistic intervention.
