The city of Almería became the epicenter of classical culture last weekend, hosting the XLII Golden Age Theater Days with a diverse program that included theater, music, and poetry.

These days, already consolidated as one of the most important cultural events of the year within the programming of the Almería City Council's Culture Department, successfully captured the public's interest, who responded enthusiastically to the proposals offered.

"The legacy of the days, initiated more than four decades ago by the Association of the same name and by Antonio Serrano, remains very much alive, and we can celebrate it every year with a bouquet of high-quality plays and street activities."

The program began on Friday, May 8, with the national premiere of Ecos del Siglo de Oro, a production by Opera Concert that transformed the Teatro Apolo into a space for dialogue between word and music. The show offered an evocative journey through Baroque literature and sensibility, featuring a renowned actor and a baritone, accompanied by a pianist.
On Saturday, despite the rain, the days took to the streets with the performance of Dulcineas, by La Pera Teatro and Páramo Teatro. This play, which took place on Francisco Villaespesa Street, in front of the Teatro Cervantes, turned the urban space into an open stage, offering a participatory and festive piece inspired by the Cervantine universe.
In the afternoon, the Teatro Apolo hosted the last stage performance of this edition with Los últimos cómicos, by Pata Teatro. This work paid tribute to the traveling comedians and the popular essence of Baroque theater, combining humor, nostalgia, and a deep love for the theatrical profession.
The XLII Golden Age Theater Days concluded with a musical flourish on Sunday afternoon, with the concert Imperio Barroco. The Orquesta Ciudad de Almería, under the direction of Michael Thomas and with the collaboration of the Real Conservatorio Profesional de Música Julián Arcas, offered a program dedicated to the splendor of European Baroque with works by Georg Friedrich Händel.
