The province of Almería prepares for the final day of its grand week, Sunday, August 23rd, with a day full of activities aimed at honoring the city's most deeply rooted traditions. The center of Almería will be the stage for numerous gatherings to enjoy the festivities.
The afternoon will be marked by bullfighting excitement with the celebration of its opening speech. As night falls, the fairgrounds will regain prominence to make the most of the weekend's final hours amidst the thrill of the 'cacharritos' (amusement rides), the atmosphere of the casetas (booths), and the final chords of the Cooltural Fest.
The day's program includes various sports competitions such as the XX Children's Fishing Competition at the Club de Mar, the Pickleball Tournament at the Auditorio Maestro Padilla Courts, and the XL Chess Open at the Círculo Mercantil. There will also be space for the Antique Motorcycle Exhibition on Avenida Federico García Lorca and tournaments for Table Football and Petanque.
The Historical Recreation of the Sentence and Execution of the Coloraos will parade through several downtown streets starting at 11 am. In parallel, on the Paseo de Almería, Inclusive Games will take place with activities like crafts and water games. Almerian gastronomy will be a highlight in the Plaza de las Velas with talks and tastings.
The XXXIX Bullfighting Opening Speech will be held at 12:30 pm in the Patio de Luces of the Diputación de Almería, with bullfighting journalist Gonzalo Izquierdo Mejías as the speaker. The Midday Fair will liven up the city center with music and performances, including a rock cover concert and flamenco pop.
In the afternoon, the Homage to Women at the Fair will take place at the Municipal Booth. The Cooltural Fest 2026 will kick off at 6 pm at the Concert Venue of the Fairgrounds, featuring artists such as David Bisbal, Ginebras, and Melón Diesel.
The sports day will continue with the II Women's 11-a-side Football Tournament and the IV Women's Almería Cup. At 7:30 pm, the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Mar will host the Solemn Septenary. The day will conclude with the II Men's 11-a-side Football Tournament and the XLI International Folklore Festival 'Ciudad de Almería' in the Plaza de la Constitución, as well as orchestras at the Municipal Booth.
