Despite the electoral calendar setting May 1st as the official start of the campaign for the May 17th elections, political activity has already surpassed legal deadlines. Almería has emerged as a crucial strategic point, attracting aspirants to lead the Junta de Andalucía in a weekend of intense mobilization.
The first to arrive will be the general secretary of the PSOE-A, María Jesús Montero, this Friday, April 24th. Her agenda will focus on socio-labor and agricultural issues, key pillars of the provincial economy. She will start in the capital with a meeting with union representatives from UGT and CCOO in the fruit and vegetable sector, then travel to Níjar to visit the Expolevante fair in Campohermoso.
On Saturday, April 25th, Almería's historic center will witness a show of strength from center-right parties. The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, will lead a large event at 11:00 AM in the Plaza de la Constitución. The party will charter buses from various municipalities to ensure high attendance, although the Aemet's rain forecast could affect the event.
Later that same Saturday afternoon, the Plaza de la Catedral will host Vox's main event at 8:00 PM. The party has chosen Almería, considered one of its electoral strongholds, for a rally featuring its national leader, Santiago Abascal, alongside the candidate for the Junta de Andalucía, Manuel Gavira. This event aims to consolidate support before the formal start of the campaign.
