Almería airport was the scene of intensive training on Wednesday and Thursday with the presence of the National Police Air Unit's executive twin-engine jet, the Pilatus PC-24, designated EC-ONT. The aircraft, based at Cuatro Vientos, conducted several training flights over the Almería bay and approach maneuvers at El Alquián aerodrome before returning to Madrid.
Sources from Aena confirmed that this model, known as a "super versatile jet," performed multiple takeoffs and landings. This aircraft is notable for its ability to operate on short, unprepared runways and features a cargo bay that facilitates the loading of bulky equipment, such as technical material for police interventions. These planes, recently acquired by the Ministry of the Interior, are used for rapid transport and logistical deployment missions, both nationally and internationally, enhancing cooperation with other European forces.
During Wednesday's operations, the police aircraft was joined by an Airbus Helicopters EC-120B Colibrí helicopter from the Air Force's Patrulla Aspa. This unit is renowned for its aerial acrobatics, characterized by agility and technological precision.
