Educational bus for the 'Learn to grow safely' campaign in Almería.

An interactive bus travels through the province of Almería to teach over 450 primary school students about risk prevention and safety in their daily lives.

The school campaign “Learn to grow safely,” promoted by the Junta de Andalucía, has begun its journey in the provincial capital of Almería. More than 450 students from 5th and 6th grade of primary school from ten educational centers in the province will participate in this initiative aimed at fostering a preventive culture from an early age.
The program, which has been bringing prevention into classrooms for over three decades, utilizes an itinerant bus transformed into an interactive classroom. Students receive sessions delivered by professionals from the Center for Occupational Risk Prevention, where they learn to identify and act in everyday risks such as choking, falls, or burns, with the help of the mascot 'Segurit@'.
The territorial delegates for Employment and Educational Development of the Junta de Andalucía, Amós García and Francisco Alonso, respectively, have highlighted the importance of this campaign. García emphasized that "well-trained students will be safer future workers," while Alonso highlighted the innovative methodology based on gamification and learning through play.
The campaign will tour ten educational centers in the province, including the capital, El Ejido, Roquetas de Mar, Vícar, Huércal-Overa, Macael, and Uleila del Campo. The objective is to involve the entire society in a common commitment to prevention, as workplace safety begins in the classroom.
The director of CEIP San Gabriel, Miriam Carretero Parra, positively assessed the initiative, noting that the intervention of specialists "adds value" and helps consolidate the knowledge already worked on in the classroom. She stressed the importance of these practical experiences in educating children about safety in their daily lives.
According to data from the National Statistics Institute, accidents are the fourth leading cause of death for children under 15 in Spain. The campaign aims to reduce these figures, especially among 10 to 12-year-olds, an age group where most childhood accidents occur, primarily at home, on the street, and at school.
