The Aljarafe corporation, one of the oldest branches that make the pilgrimage to the village of Almonte, will experience a special day in the Sevillian capital. The celebration will begin with a pontifical mass presided over by the Archbishop of Seville, Monsignor José Ángel Saiz Meneses, in the choir area of the Cathedral at 11:30 AM.
The iconic green 'simpecado', dating back to 1650 and representing the oldest image held by the brotherhood, will preside over this service. Prior to this, the 'simpecado' will be transferred from the Collegiate Church of El Salvador, where it will be housed from Friday, to the Cathedral, departing at 10:00 AM. The route will include streets such as Álvarez Quintero, Chapineros, Francos, and Alemanes, entering through the Puerta de Palos at 11:00 AM.
The Eucharist will feature musical accompaniment from the brotherhood's own Rocío choir, the Pilas Philharmonic Society, and the group Cantares. After the mass, the procession will depart through the Puerta de San Miguel to begin its return to El Salvador, passing along the Avenida de la Constitución and being received by the Municipal Corporation at the Seville City Council. Entry to the church is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
This event concludes a series of extraordinary acts organized by the brotherhood to celebrate this significant anniversary, which began on October 5 with a pontifical mass in their municipality. Another highlight was the extraordinary pilgrimage to the village of El Rocío in October, where the pilgrims from Pilas journeyed with their 'simpecado' enthroned in an improved and silver-plated carriage, in a procession that gathered numerous faithful and over sixty animal-drawn carts.
