The defense attorney for the accused, Pedro Sobrino, stated that his client, identified by the initials D. S. G., suffers from a psychiatric condition for which an expert evaluation will be immediately requested. According to the lawyer, on the day of the incident, his client consumed a significant amount of alcohol along with the medication he takes for his illness, a circumstance he already mentioned at the time of his arrest.
The case is currently in the investigation phase for an alleged attempted homicide. The defense emphasizes the importance of preserving the presumption of innocence and conducting all necessary inquiries before reaching final conclusions, noting that the events occurred in a private setting and that evidence assessment must be carried out with full procedural guarantees.
Pedro Sobrino pointed out that the accused's family believes the media has not reflected certain circumstances relevant to understanding the context of the events, such as the mental disorder and alcohol consumption.
Currently, D. S. G. is held at the Sevilla-I penitentiary center. His defense has requested a review of his personal situation and provisional release. The man has no prior criminal record.
The investigated events occurred on the afternoon of May 15th, when the accused allegedly stabbed his partner, a 32-year-old Nicaraguan citizen, in the neck. The victim was taken to Virgen Macarena Hospital in serious condition. After his arrest by the Guardia Civil, a judge ordered his provisional imprisonment.
