The Fiesta de las Mozuelas in Peligros presents a renewed cultural and festive program this year, highlighting theatrical reenactments inspired by the events of 1812 and the inauguration of a historical-themed market.
Theatrical performances, organized by the municipal theater workshop, will take place on Saturday and Sunday in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Plaza de los Patos, and Plaza de la Iglesia. Scenes such as 'Las flores', 'La taberna', and 'El robo del cáliz' will be presented itinerantly, inviting the public to follow the narrative across different stages.
As a main novelty, Brasil Street will host a Napoleonic market throughout the weekend. This area will feature theatrical animation, street parades, humor, games, participatory workshops, attractions, and stalls selling crafts and traditional products, an initiative that emerged from participatory budgets.
The market will offer continuous activities, with period characters, itinerant music, and shows recreating the Napoleonic atmosphere until its closing on Sunday evening. Over 90 actors from the municipal workshop and theater school, directed by Raquel Vaquero and advised by historian Antonio Ceballos, will bring the performances to life.
On Monday, May 25th, the central day of the festivity, the traditional mass and procession will be held from the church of Virgen del Rosario to the church of San Ildefonso. Afterwards, the 'verbena de las Mozuelas' will take place at 9:30 PM in the foyer of the Teatro Pablo Neruda, requiring prior registration at the Social Services Area.
The celebrations will involve disruptions to metropolitan transport, with modifications to lines 110, 111, and 111L on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Additionally, Brasil Street will be closed to traffic in the section between Granada Street and Valencia Street for a significant part of the weekend.
The Councilor for Culture, Cristina López, emphasized that the festival "is evolving with a clear commitment to maintain, improve, and expand a tradition that remains very much alive," highlighting the increase in activities and the annual growth of the celebration.
