The National Geographic Institute (IGN) has recorded a new seismic event of magnitude 2.9, located in the metropolitan town of Ogíjares. The tremor occurred at 1:55 PM and was characterized by a shallow depth.
The shaking was perceptible to residents in several towns. In Ogíjares, Gójar, Churriana de la Vega, Armilla, Monachil, Padul, and the provincial capital, it was felt with a maximum intensity of III. In municipalities such as Maracena, Las Gabias, Alhendín, Cájar, and Cenes de la Vega, the intensity ranged between II and III.
This seismic event adds to a series of tremors in the area, marking the fifth earthquake felt in the last two days. The most significant tremor recorded recently occurred on Thursday at 9:54 AM, reaching a magnitude of 3.1 and also having its epicenter in Ogíjares.
