According to information gathered by the complainants, these connections would allow the continuous discharge of water from the urban drainage system into the irrigation ditch, which is exclusively intended for agricultural use. This situation could be altering water quality, affecting both crops and the balance of the associated ecosystem, especially as it is located in a vehicle parking area.
“"This practice could be altering water quality, affecting both crops and the balance of the associated ecosystem, as they are located in a vehicle parking area."
The complainants believe that this action violates current regulations on water management and environmental protection, by failing to ensure adequate separation between stormwater and traditional irrigation channels. They also warn of the risk of urban pollutants, such as solid waste, oils, or chemical products, being carried into the ditch, which could severely harm farmers and the natural environment.
Given this situation, the Town Council is demanded an immediate explanation, as well as the urgent adoption of corrective measures, including the disconnection of these sewers and the restoration of the proper functioning of the irrigation ditch. Likewise, the intervention of the competent authorities is requested to investigate the facts and, if applicable, determine responsibility for this possible environmental crime.
