The total investment of 155,091.94 euros has equipped the school with facilities that increase comfort, safety, and hygiene for sports activities. These new shared-use facilities include restrooms for students during school hours and separate changing rooms for the basketball club in the afternoons.
Previously, students had to walk to the main school building to use restrooms or change during Physical Education classes. The new location next to the pavilion eliminates unnecessary travel and aids the teaching staff.
The project is part of the Sports Facilities Plan (PIDE). The Provincial Council of Granada contributed 41.63% of the funding, while the Maracena City Council covered 58.37%, along with an additional municipal contribution of 25,967.60 euros to ensure the completion of the works.
The mayor of Maracena, Carlos Porcel, highlighted that the action "completely transforms an area that was degraded and responds to a demand from the educational community." He added that the new facilities "offer greater comfort and safety to students and can also be used by the basketball club in the afternoons," calling it "an example of how an investment can improve a space and bring it to life."
With the launch of these new changing rooms, CEIP Las Mimbres enhances the conditions for educational and sports activities, benefiting students and young people in the municipality.
