The fire, which originated from up to four distinct points in the La Joya area, Pulianas Avenue, and the provincial road GR3304, caused alarm as it approached homes on Diamante street. Authorities are investigating the causes, although the nature of the multiple ignition points suggests it could be an intentionally set fire.
Several units from the Northern Fire Station of Granada capital, along with the Civil Guard and Civil Protection, were quickly dispatched to the scene to control and extinguish the flames. Citizen collaboration was also highlighted, with some residents helping to cool the area with their own hoses while emergency services arrived.
“"We did it to safeguard the safety of the residents and the homes."
The mayor of Pulianas, José Antonio Carranza, present at the scene, thanked the residents for their help and emphasized the preventive action taken by the City Council a few days prior. The council proceeded to clear these lands, despite them being private property, with the aim of preventing risks.
Carranza recalled that the City Council has sent communications to landowners throughout the municipality urging them to keep their plots clean, highlighting the importance of these measures for collective safety and the protection of the urban environment against potential fires.
