The Minister of Development, Territorial Planning and Housing, Rocío Díaz, has shared on the social network X a video documenting the profound transformation experienced in the municipalities of Churriana de la Vega and Las Gabias. The images, captured by drone, illustrate the progress of the Granada Metro expansion works from October 2024 to May 2026, demonstrating the infrastructure's integration into the urban environment.
The audiovisual material allows for a comparison between the initial state of the works and their current situation. The first shots show the development of civil engineering, while more recent images display the already urbanized areas and the nearly completed route. Highlights include the construction of the metro platform, the reorganization of roads, and the creation of new pedestrian zones.
In Churriana de la Vega, the video shows how the environment has adapted to the arrival of the metropolitan railway, with interventions that have altered the appearance of several streets and adjacent areas. Meanwhile, Las Gabias shows significant urban transformation, particularly around the future stops, where public space has been reorganized and renovated.
This expansion of the Granada Metro is part of a strategy to strengthen the connection between the southern metropolitan municipalities and the capital. The infrastructure aims to reduce travel times and offer a sustainable transport alternative. With the work nearly finished, attention is now focused on the service's launch, which is set to usher in a new era of mobility for the area.
