The Guardia Civil has apprehended a 32-year-old man, suspected of burglary in a home located in the Monteluz urbanization in Peligros. The alert was raised by the homeowner, who detected the intrusion via the property's video surveillance system.
A patrol from the main post in Maracena was immediately dispatched to the scene. After accessing the property with keys provided by the owner, officers conducted a thorough search and located the suspect concealed beneath a bed in an upstairs room. He was arrested on the spot.
Subsequently, it was revealed that the detainee had intentionally provided a false identity to hinder identification and avoid association with other burglaries committed by scaling properties in the area. Despite his attempts to mislead the investigation, the officers' experience helped clarify the events.
The operation concluded with the individual being charged with burglary. Officers also recovered significant information linking the detainee to four other counts of theft and one count of larceny in the Maracena area. He was brought before the court and subsequently released on bail with charges pending.
The Guardia Civil has commended the "efficiency, coordination, and perseverance" of the involved patrols. They emphasize the crucial role of citizen cooperation and the use of home security systems in preventing and solving property crimes, reminding the public to report suspicious activity immediately via emergency number 062.
