The President of the Provincial Council of Granada, Francis Rodríguez, has inaugurated the new cycle-pedestrian path connecting Ogíjares and Las Gabias, completing a strategic circuit of over 8.5 kilometers around the Air Base.
The new infrastructure, which involved an investment of 1,432,080 euros, covers 3.4 kilometers along the provincial road GR-3303, integrating into a circular route that promotes sports and sustainable mobility in the metropolitan area of Granada.
This section joins the existing ones in Armilla, Ogíjares, and Churriana de la Vega, creating a route aimed at improving the quality of life for residents and enhancing sports and cycling.

"We have managed to make a reality of a proposal we put forward at the beginning of our term, which shows that we fulfill our commitments and are advancing one of the strategic projects the Diputación had marked."
It is a commitment to improve the quality of life in our province and to create spaces that respond to the needs of the residents of these municipalities, which are now better connected.
The project included the creation of new sports areas, rest zones, and the installation of 98 LED luminaires with motion detection. The cycle lane features a flexible surface, while the pedestrian walkway is paved with materials like alpana and red earth from the Alhambra for better landscape integration.
The works were carried out in coordination with the military commanders of the Armilla Air Base, considered a strategic infrastructure, ensuring the safety and operational capacity of the facility.
The inaugural event was attended by various local and military authorities, including the Deputy of Presidency, María Vera; the Mayor of Ogíjares, Estéfano Polo; the Mayoress of Las Gabias, María Merinda Sádaba; the Mayor of Alhendín, Jorge Sánchez; the Deputy Delegate for Defense in Granada, Federico González-Vico Santiago; and the Colonel of the Air Base, Joaquín Aguirre.
