The Cúllar Vega City Council has taken a crucial step towards the construction of its future municipal pool. The official confirmation from Radio Televisión Española (RTVE) regarding the definitive cessation of medium-wave broadcasts and activity at the El Ventorrillo facilities, after years of negotiations, will allow the council to reclaim a space of over 12,000 square meters for public use.
This land, municipal property since 2019 and strategically located next to the current sports complex, will enable the imminent dismantling of the broadcast infrastructure. Mayor Jorge Sánchez highlighted the significance of the announcement from the site itself, noting that reclaiming this area will allow for the expansion of existing sports facilities and make it available to all citizens.
The end of RTVE's antenna activity allows the City Council to resume the initial plan of locating the municipal pool on this specific plot. This site, which had to be provisionally reconsidered due to uncertainty about the public broadcaster's departure timeline, is now considered more suitable due to its size, better access, green areas, and greater parking capacity, along with potential for future expansion.
Technical adaptation of the project to this plot has already begun, as confirmed by the mayor. The City Council will continue advancing with the technical redevelopment tasks and the bidding process for the subsequent execution of the works, aiming to transform this space and provide Cúllar Vega with more services and a brighter future.
