Under the slogan «Walking towards a better future», the municipality will roll out a series of activities aimed at promoting healthy travel, reducing road traffic, and moving towards a more humane and sustainable urban environment. The program combines outdoor events, school community involvement, and training workshops.
Activities include the fun day «The Street is Ours» on Saturday, September 12th in Plaza Felipe Moreno, featuring traditional games, skating exhibitions, and bicycle workshops. On Wednesday, September 16th, the XIII edition of the School Drawing Contest «Mobility for All People» will be presented at C.P. Francisco Ayala.
On Saturday, September 19th, the Inter-municipal Cycling Route will take place, a non-competitive ride connecting the municipalities of Las Gabias, Cúllar Vega, Churriana de la Vega, and Alhendín. On Monday, September 21st, and Wednesday, September 23rd, the initiatives «Walking to School» and «Cycling to School» will be held, with meeting points in various town squares and gifts for participants.
Additionally, on Tuesday, September 22nd, the animated film «Bikes» will be screened at the Casa de la Cultura, and a skating circuit will be organized in Jerónimo de Rueda Park. Finally, on Thursday, September 24th, the Local Police and personnel from the DGT will give a talk on the regulations, safety, and coexistence for personal mobility vehicles at I.E.S. Arabuleila.
Through these measures, the council aims to involve all age groups in adopting cleaner and safer transportation habits.
