The Sports Department of the Alhendín City Council has announced the opening of registrations for the XXIII Urban Race Villa de Alhendín, the central event of the sports program for the Patron Saint Festivities, which will be held from August 21 to 24. The councilor for the area, Mariano del Río, highlighted the commitment of the council and local clubs in promoting a healthy lifestyle.
The race, covering seven kilometers through the town's streets, is open to all ages and levels, with hundreds of runners from the province of Granada expected to participate. Registrations are now available on the website global-tempo.com, and those who sign up before August 16 will receive a commemorative t-shirt. The event is co-organized by the Club Atletismo Alhendín, with the collaboration of the Provincial Council of Granada and Civil Protection.
Del Río emphasized the importance of this race as "more than a tradition," serving as a first introduction to athletics for many, especially the younger participants.
In addition to the race, the festivities will include a Cycling Gymkhana at the Parque de la Estación, football matches between local teams and Granada CF, and a veterans' match between Alhendín and Monachil. Tournaments for Table Tennis (local and federated), 3x3 Basketball, Petanque at the Parque de la Estación, and Chess at the Town Hall Auditorium will also take place, all starting from the Saturday of the fair.
