The Junta de Andalucía, through the Ministry of Social Services, Families, and Equality, has allocated a total of 327,427 euros from Next Generation funds for the center's renovation works and new equipment. Of this amount, 247,691 euros were invested in the construction and 79,735 euros in the new equipment.
The territorial delegate for Social Services, Families, and Equality, Laura Valle, emphasized the importance of returning this space to its nearly 3,800 users in Coín, allowing them to enjoy a renovated center for social connection and combating unwanted loneliness.
Valle, accompanied by the mayor Francisco Santos, met with users to explain the adaptations made, focusing on a comprehensive program of workshops and activities to promote active aging.
The collaboration with the Coín City Council was acknowledged for minimizing the impact of the works on daily activities, by providing municipal spaces for workshops and events.
The renovation works at the Coín CPA are part of similar interventions in three other centers in the province (Antequera, Marbella, and El Perchel) with a total investment of 1.1 million euros, aligning with the model of care focused on the elderly.
The intervention focused on replacing flooring and tiling, restructuring upper-floor spaces to enlarge the manual skills workshop and create a podiatry area, and building new partitions for mobility and cognitive stimulation rooms.
Additionally, exterior carpentry was replaced with PVC double-glazed windows, suspended ceilings were renewed, all equipment was updated, and some existing light fixtures were replaced with LED lighting.
With the reopening, regular activities and workshop programs will resume starting next Wednesday. Members and users can enjoy meals at 5.61 euros, and 2.80 euros for holders of the Tarjeta Andalucía Junta 65, Oro modality.
