The town's mayor, Jorge Gallardo (PSOE), announced the reception of this historic investment from the Government of Spain, aimed at mitigating the effects of torrential rains and preventing future floods.
The funds will be allocated to several key projects in Estación de Cártama, including the construction of a storm tank for surface water collection, the creation of a channel between Avenida de Andalucía and Arroyo Torres, and the installation of a pumping system in Calle Pizarra, one of the areas most affected by recent rainfall.
This subsidy, granted by the Secretariat of State of the Government of Spain, is part of RDL 5/2026, which focuses on urgent measures to repair and improve municipal and provincial infrastructure affected by adverse weather phenomena.
Additionally, approximately 100,000 euros in aid related to the 2024 floods have been allocated to further enhance flood prevention infrastructure in the municipality. The local government reaffirms its commitment to continue expanding infrastructure in sensitive areas to anticipate future damage.
