The Alhaurín el Grande City Council has approved the Municipal Plan against Climate Change and presented a positive financial report, with a surplus of 4.8 million euros as of June 30.

The ordinary municipal plenary session, held on September 11, addressed key issues for the locality. Among them was the approval of the Municipal Plan against Climate Change, a technical document driven by the environmental policies of the European Union and required by the Junta de Andalucía, aimed at preventing and adapting to the effects of climate change.
The Councilor for the Environment, Teresa Sánchez, detailed that the plan, developed since 2024, includes revisions to adapt to the reality of Alhaurín el Grande, studying basins, green areas as climate refuges, and water risks. Investments are planned for the drinking water distribution network and actions to reduce runoff damage.
Furthermore, the municipal corporation unanimously approved decorations for three Local Police officers in recognition of their careers and meritorious actions. Mayor Anthony Bermúdez congratulated the officers, whose awards will be presented on October 4, the day of the Local Police patron saint.
In financial matters, the Councilor for Finance, Luis Miguel Molina, presented the positive situation of the municipal accounts. The average payment time to suppliers stands at 9.67 days, a significant improvement compared to the 29.26 days of the previous quarter. Approximately 1,000 invoices were paid in the second quarter, totaling 3,200,000 euros.
As of June 30, recognized income amounts to 21,800,000 euros and expenses to 17 million, resulting in a surplus of 4.8 million euros. The councilor highlighted that this financial health allows for facing the future, investing in the municipality, and offering confidence to companies and suppliers.
The budget execution as of June 30, 2026, shows an execution of approximately 50% for personnel and current expenses. Investments, initially projected at 10.8 million, have increased to 30 million thanks to funds from the Spanish Government and European EDIL Funds for the project «Reconnecting Alhaurín el Grande».
Tax collection stands at 22% of the forecast, conditioned by the usual collection calendar. Current transfers from other administrations reach approximately 50% execution. Regarding the 2022 collection account, 90% of the 13.5 million put up for collection was raised, with outstanding debt at 9.3 million euros.
The Councilor for Finance emphasized the high degree of tax compliance among the residents of Alhaurín el Grande, with over 90% of obligations voluntarily met. Mayor Anthony Bermúdez concluded by affirming the government team's commitment to building a better Alhaurín el Grande.
