The exhibition, open to the public until October 3rd, is part of the cultural program ‘Cuarta Estación’, organized by the Culture Department of the Alhaurín el Grande City Council.
The inauguration was attended by the Councilor for Culture, Marina Maldonado; the mayor, Anthony Bermúdez; the president of the Antonio Gala Foundation, Francisco Moreno, and its director, José María Gala. Maldonado highlighted the diversity of styles and sensibilities, noting that despite their differences, the artists share the need to "transform their experiences, memories, imagination, and concerns into art".
The exhibition features proposals in painting, illustration, graphic narrative, and sculpture. Andrea Cano presents a comic set in a gas station; Eva Fernández reflects on the human-nature relationship through magical realism and collage; Ani Jiménez investigates memory and the Foundation's spaces using Antonio Gala's canes; Francisco Ruiz combines the ancient and the sacred with a playful vision in his ceramic sculptures; and Daniel Sánchez addresses the vulnerability of desire and melancholy in his project ‘Égloga Negra’.
Marina Maldonado summarized the exhibition as "five different ways of understanding art: from imagination and narration, from the relationship between the domestic and the wild, from memory, from the ancestral, from desire and melancholy".
Francisco Moreno, president of the Antonio Gala Foundation, emphasized the close relationship between the Foundation and the Alhaurín el Grande City Council, describing it as "bonds of friendship, affection, and familiarity." He is confident that the exhibition, already acclaimed in Córdoba, will be enthusiastically received in Alhaurín el Grande.
Moreno announced that joint initiatives between both institutions will continue throughout the year, in both Alhaurín el Grande and Córdoba, to deepen their connection.
Mayor Anthony Bermúdez highlighted that this exhibition represents "one more step" in the collaboration initiated years ago, and that it is "destined to grow further in the coming years, with more presence of the Foundation here in the town and also more presence of Alhaurín el Grande at the Foundation".
With this exhibition, the ‘Cuarta Estación’ cultural program brings contemporary creations by young artists to the public and strengthens the cultural ties between Alhaurín el Grande and the Antonio Gala Foundation for Young Creators.
