The council has approved a proposal from the Department of Citizen Security and Mobility, establishing measures primarily affecting Pedro Pérez Hidalgo street and the La Huertecilla area, which will handle traffic entering and exiting the La Palmilla neighborhood during the works.
A report from the Local Police highlights the need to improve the intersection of Pérez Hidalgo street with Tejar street and La Huertecilla, where a roundabout will be built to optimize safety and traffic flow. According to the report, roundabouts significantly reduce the number and severity of accidents.
The proposal also includes improvements to pedestrian signage on Pedro Pérez Hidalgo street, relocation of waste containers, and the conditioning of access to the 'El Chato' plot, which serves as surface parking, due to the planned closure of Isaac Peral Avenue.
Additionally, traffic lights will be installed on Tejar street and Cuesta de Manuel Luis, where a two-way traffic system will be implemented to regulate vehicle passage given the street's narrowness.
The contract for the parking and redevelopment works on Isaac Peral Avenue, which will feature 133 spaces, was recently awarded for 5.9 million euros. This project is part of the Integrated Action Plan (PAI) aimed at revitalizing the historic heart of Alhaurín de la Torre.
