The Cantoria Town Hall has opened its doors following a profound transformation that goes beyond aesthetics. The official inauguration of the Casa Consistorial was attended by the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, who accompanied the mayor, Puri Sánchez, in an event symbolizing institutional support for the municipality.
Also participating in the visit were the Government's Sub-delegate in Almería, José María Martín Fernández, and the Andalusian MP Nicolás Ayala, along with other municipal representatives and project managers. The rehabilitation, funded by NextGenerationEU European funds, received a grant of 1,231,316.16 euros and was awarded to Veolia Servicios LECAM S.A.U. for 983,400.54 euros (excluding VAT).
The intervention has resulted in a comprehensive upgrade of the building, including photovoltaic production, climate control, thermal and acoustic insulation, efficient lighting, and control systems to reduce energy consumption. The new organization of interior spaces aims to optimize municipal services and citizen attention, integrating materials from Cantoria's productive environment.
The remodeled Casa Consistorial thus becomes a showcase for local industry and aims to be an architectural reference in the Valle del Almanzora. The works were received in June and now culminate with the official opening.
Beyond protocol, Minister Óscar Puente's visit was marked by its closeness to the residents. Puente conversed with locals, accepted photo requests, and interacted at the Senior Citizens' Center, turning the day into a direct encounter with the population.
