The detainee, who has been brought before the court, has been placed in provisional prison. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when the Operations Center received an alert about the assault.
Upon arrival, agents from the Civil Guard's Citizen Security Unit (USECIC) and patrols found the victim with several deep cuts on his hands and chest wounds, requiring transfer to a hospital in Granada city.
Based on the victim's information, a search was launched in the municipality with support from the Local Police of Dúrcal. The alleged assailant, who has a police record, was located in a park.
The chainsaw used in the attack was later found at a farmhouse belonging to the detainee's family. The Civil Guard is investigating the motive, suggesting prior disagreements may have led to the violent incident.
