The festival, coinciding with the commemoration of the International Day of Rural Women, aims to transform the public spaces of Palenciana, in the Subbética region, into an open-air art gallery. This initiative, supported by the Rafael Botí Foundation for Plastic Arts, seeks to highlight creativity and equality in rural settings.
Narci Ruiz, the provincial institution's Tourism delegate, stated that the event has become a benchmark for urban art and contemporary creation in rural areas. "It is an event that also stands out for its multidisciplinary nature and the success of its workshops, promoting a fairer, more egalitarian society with critical awareness through art," she affirmed.
Gonzalo Ariza, the mayor of Palenciana, explained that the festival turns the town's streets into an open-air museum, focusing not only on the role of rural women in art but also on making their streets an open museum.
The program for this seventh edition will commence on Thursday, October 15th, with the festival's inauguration, the ‘Tortillas con Arte’ contest, a recognition for Canal Sur's coverage, activities at the school, and the start of mural creation.
On Friday, October 16th, the jury's decision for the ‘Calles en Verso’ competition will be announced, alongside continued workshops and artistic interventions aimed at all audiences.
Saturday, October 17th, will be dedicated to children's workshops and further mural interventions, enriching the municipality's public spaces with creative proposals.
The closing day, Sunday, October 18th, will feature a craft market, music, a book presentation, a charity bar, a theatrical performance in the afternoon, and a guided tour of the festival-related sites.
