The Grand Medieval Market and Falconry of Zoco de Boabdil has opened its doors in Lucena, attended by the mayor, Aurelio Fernández, and the Councilor for Tourism and Culture, Francisco Barbancho. This event, organized by the City Council of Lucena in collaboration with Lancelot Medieval, will take place until next Monday, October 12, in emblematic locations such as the Castillo del Moral, the Paseo del Coso, the Plaza de San Miguel, and the Plaza de Archidona.
Attendees can enjoy numerous craft and gastronomy stalls, accompanied by music, street performances, and falconry displays. The offering is complemented by the municipal programming of Zoco de Boabdil, which includes guided tours, film screenings, theatrical performances, and visits to local heritage sites to bring the history of Lucena closer to the public.
The cultural program kicks off this Friday, October 9, at 8:30 PM with a free screening of the film La corona partida (The Broken Crown) in the Patio de Armas of the Castillo del Moral. On Saturday, October 10, at 10:30 AM, the Ruta Marco Topo en familia (Marco Topo Family Route) will be offered, a free interactive game requiring prior registration. Throughout Saturday, the market will maintain its stalls and entertainment activities, including falconry shows.
Sunday, October 11, will begin early with the Sendero del Martín González (Martín González Trail), a route of approximately 12 kilometers starting at 9:00 AM from the Plaza de la Barrera, which will traverse the area where the battle in which Boabdil was captured took place. In the afternoon, at 8:00 PM, the Patio de Armas of the Castillo del Moral will host the theatrical performance Boabdil, cautivo entre dos mundos (Boabdil, captive between two worlds), by the Escuela de Teatro de Ubederriba (Ubederriba Theater School), with free admission.
On the final day, Monday, October 12, the Castillo del Moral will open its doors for free with an audio guide available in several languages (Spanish, English, French, and German) between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. These joint activities aim to offer a festive and cultural experience in the center of Lucena, while also highlighting an important historical episode of the city.
