The works for section I of the new supply conduit between the Iznájar and Los Prietos Water Treatment Plants (ETAP) continue to advance. The Provincial Water Company (Emproacsa) has reported the start of the installation of the 1,000 mm nominal diameter ductile iron pipe. In parallel, work is progressing on the sections of helical steel pipe planned at specific points along the route.
The president of the Provincial Council of Córdoba, Salvador Fuentes, detailed that this action, included in the Provincial Plan for Hydraulic Infrastructures 2024-2027, involves the execution of nearly 7.85 km of new pipeline. The objective is to improve the capacity, reliability, and security of the high-level supply system originating from the Iznájar ETAP.
Currently, under the direction of the Provincial Council's Civil Engineering Service and Emproacsa, work is being carried out on several simultaneous fronts. Alongside trench excavation, support bed preparation, and the installation of the main pipeline, tasks for the execution of manholes and the construction of anchoring elements at specific points within the action area have commenced.
Concurrently, actions related to special crossings are continuing. These include the machining of helical steel pipe, necessary excavations in streams intersected by the route, and the commencement of shaft excavation for the horizontal directional drilling of the A-344 crossing.
Fuentes emphasized that the new infrastructure will increase the water transport capacity from the Iznájar ETAP and improve the operational conditions and reliability of one of the main arteries of the provincial supply system, which serves over 280,000 inhabitants of the province.
In essence, with the start of the main pipeline installation, the project enters a new phase of execution, balancing the pipeline's progress with the construction of structures, crossings, and auxiliary elements for its future commissioning. These works began last April, with a budget of 9,803,173 euros.
