The Ministry of Education, through the Andalusian Public Agency for Education (APAE), has concluded the repair works on the skylights of the IES Sierra de Aras in Lucena. These actions address the damage caused by the storm system that affected the region last February.
Diego Copé, delegate for Education, accompanied by Aurelio Fernández, mayor of Lucena, and Miriam Ortiz, councilor for Education, visited the center to oversee the improvements. Copé explained that the previous meteorological events had compromised the building's upper envelope's watertightness, causing leaks, humidity, and some detachments. The intervention, part of the Plan Andalucía Actúa, has restored waterproofing and secured the covering pieces.
The mayor of Lucena, Aurelio Fernández, highlighted the Junta's prompt response to undertake these works, emphasizing the importance of restoring the center to adequate conditions for the normal development of the academic year, thereby ensuring facilities are in the best possible state for students and staff.
The Plan Andalucía Actúa, an initiative by the Junta with a global budget of 1,780 million euros for the community, has led to 22 projects in educational centers within the province of Córdoba, with an investment exceeding 4.2 million euros.
