The President of the Environment Area, Javier Ibáñez, and the president of ACCA, Eva Gómez, have detailed the operation of the commercial cardboard collection service provided by EPREMASA in Priego de Córdoba. The service is aimed at all commercial establishments, hospitality businesses, and any business that generates cardboard, regardless of their affiliation with ACCA.
Emphasis has been placed on the importance of respecting the established schedules and depositing cardboard correctly to keep streets clean and prevent accumulation. The current summer schedule sets four collection zones: 8:00 PM for Zone 1 (Avenida de América, Cava, Trasmonjas, Plaza de Andalucía, and Ribera); 9:00 PM for Zone 2 (Cruz de la Aurora, San Luis, Carrera de las Monjas, Lozano Sidro, Magistral Romero Mengíbar, Palenque, and Obispo Pérez Muñoz); 10:00 PM for Zone 3 (Caminillo, Cañada, Buena Vista, Málaga, and Río); and 11:00 PM for Zone 4 (San Marcos, Balbino Povedano, Avenida de España, Avenida de la Infancia, Avenida de la Juventud, and Rotonda Almendros).
The City Council reminds businesses not to deposit cardboard before 8:00 PM to avoid accumulation and improve the urban image. The winter schedule will be communicated starting in November.
It is recommended that establishments fold boxes to reduce volume, stack them neatly, and deposit them only within the established hours. Cardboard should not be mixed with general waste or left in a way that obstructs pedestrian passage. These measures facilitate the collection service's work and optimize available space.
Eva Gómez highlighted that the service is available to all businesses in Priego de Córdoba and emphasized the benefits of being part of ACCA for receiving relevant information.
Furthermore, information was provided on the implementation of the brown bin for selective organic waste collection (fruit and vegetable scraps, meat, fish, coffee grounds, etc.). The grey bin will be exclusively for residual waste (diapers, wipes, cigarette butts, pet litter, etc.). The importance of collaboration from citizens and businesses for proper waste management is reiterated.
