The merger aims to consolidate the work of both clubs into a single structure, enhance the youth academy, optimize resources, and establish a common project for local basketball. The new entity, already registered with the Andalusian Sports Entities Registry, will be chaired by Juan Pérez.
UCAL Lucena plans to form around twenty teams, ranging from youth categories to seniors, with over 200 players. The organization includes male and female teams, a veterans' team (LBA), the AMARA team, a team competing in the National League, and another aspiring to play in the Third FEB. This project is founded on values such as social commitment, training, and sporting excellence.
The Councilor for Sports, Ángel Novillo, welcomed the agreement, calling it "great news not only for basketball but for Lucena's sports scene as a whole," and highlighted the Municipal Sports Service's support for the process.
Antonio García, president of CBL Lucebasket, thanked the efforts of boards, families, athletes, sponsors, and institutions, stating that "today we unite again as one family and take a step that will allow Lucena to have a stronger, more stable sports project with greater growth potential".
Igor da Silva, president of CB Al-Yussana, described the day as "a historic moment" and noted that the union occurs at a "great time" for both projects, with the goal of becoming "a benchmark club in the province of Córdoba".
The new president of UCAL Lucena, Juan Pérez, expressed his enthusiasm and commitment to taking on the responsibility, emphasizing that the entity will represent Lucena's identity with the support of all involved.
UCAL Lucena's corporate identity integrates the green of Al-Yussana and the blue of Lucebasket, complemented by white, colors representative of the city's emblem, symbolizing that the project belongs to all citizens.
The City Council congratulated both entities for their dialogue and union, which strengthens Lucena's basketball structure, and the Municipal Sports Service reaffirmed its close relationship of support and accompaniment with the new club.
