The tender, promoted by the Foundation of Mediaeval Cities of Central Andalusia, aims to improve heritage interpretation and the visitor experience at the Castillo del Moral in Lucena through an innovative immersive virtual reality experience. This project, funded by the PATCUL 2025 call, focuses on enhancing the tourist-cultural heritage of Andalusia.
The intervention will involve a 3D historical recreation of the castle's Courtyard, based on rigorous documentary research and the development of a historical narrative script. The goal is to facilitate visitors' historical and spatial understanding of the monument, allowing them to visualize its original configuration and contextualize its evolution.
The experience, approximately five minutes long, will combine 3D digital recreation with 360º recordings of the real environment, including aerial drone footage if necessary. It will feature sound design, voiceovers in Spanish, English, and French, subtitling, and interpretation in Spanish Sign Language to ensure accessibility.
The contract also includes the supply and installation of two complete VR experience stations, equipped with standalone VR headsets, 360º swivel stools, and support and charging plinths, designed for simple and autonomous user operation.
Content must have historical validation from local heritage or cultural dissemination specialists, and the experience must function offline, integrating respectfully into the heritage environment without altering its aesthetic perception.
The overall project budget is 33,275 euros and also includes a similar initiative at the Roman villa of Fuente Álamo in Puente Genil. The execution period is four months from contract formalization, with no possibility of extension, and must be completed before March 3, 2027.
