The town of Lucena is finalizing preparations for its traditional Aracelitan Festivities in 2026, scheduled from May 1st to 4th, featuring an extensive program of religious and festive activities.

Jointly organized by the City Council and the Royal Archconfraternity of María Santísima de Araceli, the festivities will take place both at the fairgrounds and in the city center. The official start will be on Friday, May 1st at 12:00 PM with a salute fired from the Castillo del Moral.
On the same day, at 8:45 PM, the extraordinary lighting will be inaugurated in Plaza Nueva, featuring 12 archways approximately 15 meters high, 50 luminous arches, and over 180,000 LED points. The lighting in Plaza Nueva will remain on throughout the novena. Later, at 9:00 PM, the San Mateo Parish will host the proclamation of the Aracelitana Mayor and her Court of Honor, along with the Proclamation of the Glories of María Santísima de Araceli.
Friday night will continue with the traditional party at Pilar de la Dehesa, with tickets going on sale on April 28th from 9:00 AM on the website www.culturalucena.es. 800 tickets will be available, the highest number in recent years, and extraordinary bus services and enhanced security will be provided.
On Saturday, May 2nd, the flower offering will take place from 6:30 PM. On Sunday, May 3rd, Virgin's Day, a mass will be held at 12:00 PM, broadcast by 13TV, followed by the procession of the Virgen de Araceli through the streets of Lucena at 8:00 PM. The day will culminate in Plaza Nueva with a fireworks display around 11:25 PM, which this year will extend to 26 and a half minutes, using 380 kilos of material and 2,786 effects.
The fairgrounds will begin activities on Thursday, April 30th with the opening of children's attractions. The Municipal Booth will be a key meeting point with musical performances throughout the days, including the Conexión orchestra on Friday, the Memorias de la Copla show on Saturday, and the Channel group on Sunday. The fairgrounds will also feature its own lighting, with over 20 LED arches and an entrance arch over 15 meters high.
Finally, on Monday, May 4th, in response to the request of the fairground workers' collective, Children's Day will be celebrated with popular prices for children's attractions. From 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, the attraction area will be free of music and loud noises to accommodate people with acoustic sensitivity. On the same day, the Municipal Booth will host a coexistence day organized by the Ulubai collective and the Ébano orchestra starting at 2:00 PM.
