The Cordovan town of Lucena is getting ready for its 2026 Aracelitanas Festivities, which will take place from May 1st to 4th with a program that combines religious, cultural, and leisure activities for all audiences.

The Councillor for Festivities, Traditions, and Customs, together with the Lucena City Council and the Royal Archconfraternity of María Santísima de Araceli, has presented the official program for the festivities. These will be held both in the fairgrounds and in the city center, promising a complete experience for residents and visitors.
On Friday, May 1st, the celebrations will begin with a salvo of shots from the Castillo del Moral at 12:00 PM. In the evening, at 8:45 PM, the extraordinary lighting will be inaugurated in the Plaza Nueva, featuring 12 archways approximately 15 meters high, 50 luminous arches, and over 180,000 LED points. The lighting in Plaza Nueva will remain on throughout the novena.
That same night, at 9:00 PM, the San Mateo parish church will host the proclamation of the Aracelitana Mayor and her Court of Honor, followed by the Proclamation of the Glories of María Santísima de Araceli. The day will conclude with the traditional party at Pilar de la Dehesa, with 800 tickets available from April 28th on the culturalucena.es website. Security will be reinforced, and an extraordinary bus service will be provided.
On Saturday, May 2nd, the Flower Offering will take place starting at 6:30 PM. On Sunday, May 3rd, Virgin's Day, the Solemn Function will be held at 12:00 PM, broadcast by 13TV, and the procession of the Virgin of Araceli through the streets of Lucena at 8:00 PM. The night will end in Plaza Nueva with a fireworks display lasting 26 and a half minutes, featuring 380 kilograms of material and 2,786 effects.
At the fairgrounds, children's attractions will open from Thursday, April 30th. The Municipal Booth will be a key meeting point with musical performances throughout the days, including the orchestra «Conexión» on Friday, the show «Memorias de la Copla» on Saturday, and the group «Channel» on Sunday. The fairgrounds will also have its own lighting, with over 20 LED arches and an entrance archway over 15 meters high.
On Monday, May 4th, in response to requests from the fairground workers, Children's Day will be celebrated with popular prices for children's attractions. From 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, there will be no music or loud noises to accommodate individuals with acoustic sensitivity. On the same Monday, the Municipal Booth will host a coexistence day starting at 2:00 PM, organized by the Ulubai collective and the Ébano orchestra.

"These Aracelitanas Festivities represent the best of our traditions and the hospitality of our city."
