The 29th Lucena City Theater Week will return to the city from October 14 to 25, consolidating itself as a cultural benchmark. The program, presented by the Councilor for Culture, Francisco Barbancho, and the area's technician, Julio Flores, will feature 13 shows spread over two weeks to facilitate audience attendance.
Francisco Barbancho highlighted the commitment to a program that is "ambitious, varied, high-quality, and for all audiences," which includes theater of different genres, opera, magic, contemporary circus, urban dance, and family shows. The initiative also incorporates the Luis Barahona de Soto Award.
The opening will be on October 14 with "El desván de los hermanos Grimm" at the Palacio Erisana, followed by the opera "El barbero de Sevilla" at the Manuel Lara Cantizani Auditorium. The week will continue with "Misery," starring Carmen Conesa, Marcial Álvarez, and Alberto Vázquez; "Lope Exprés"; and "Lunaria," winner of the 2025 Morales-Martínez del Barahona de Soto Children's Text Award.
On October 18, the illusionism gala aLUCENAnte 2026 will be held, featuring artists such as Paco Agrado and Fran Qué. After a break, on October 21, "Panorama desde el puente," by Arthur Miller, will be presented, with María Adánez and José Luis García-Pérez. On October 22, "Compatibles," winner of the 2025 Luis Barahona de Soto Short Theater Award, will be staged at the Palacio Erisana.
On October 23, "Los últimos cómicos" by Pata Teatro will be performed in the Patio de Armas of the Castillo del Moral, and in the evening, Plaza Nueva will host the contemporary circus show "Hypnos." On October 24, Goyo Jiménez will present "América Forever" at the Auditorium, while Plaza Archidona will be the stage for "Famulus 4.0," an urban dance performance by Iron Skulls Co.
The closing, on October 25, will feature "Inolvidable," a musical comedy starring Carmen Morales and Alejandro Vera, which traces the life of Rocío Dúrcal. Julio Flores noted that the goal is to turn Lucena into "a great stage of living emotions."
Ticket packages and individual tickets will go on sale on September 15. Adult packages for eight shows will range from 62 to 72 euros. In-person sales will take place at the Culture Department, with online sales and box office available one hour before each performance.
